I had no idea almost two years ago that I would be a photographer much less a wedding photographer. I've ALWAYS loved taking pictures just in general, but especially of my 4 beautiful kids. I went from using a simple cell phone with photo editing apps, to my first dslr which was the Canon SL1. From there, I upgraded to my baby, Canon 6D. I just wanted to take pictures of my kids, no one else really. People I didn't even know then would ask me to take their photographs. I started taking other kids pictures shortly after, then families, sports, birthdays, etc. A year after all the excitement, I second shot my first wedding with the incredible, Haley Zehner of C's Photography. It was the wedding of Ryan and Anna Leonard.
After that wedding, I was hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding to second shoot. The bride, Anna and her groom, Ryan were amazing. Everything was a breeze with this wedding. Through word of mouth, Anna sent me a few more brides my direction. My first on my own was Alex and Madison Byrd's wedding. It was at the Barn at Bridlewood in Hattiesburg, MS. It was a beautiful. It was definitely a wedding you'd want as your first. It went so smoothly.
I was 16 years old whenever I got married. It wasn't your ordinary church or beach wedding. My husband and my family went to North Carolina, where my dad was working. We went to get courthouse and got our marriage license. We got married in Kershaw County at a pretty park. No I did not have a wedding dress, No I didn't get a beautiful venue, No I didn't get walked down the aisle by my dad. But... it was perfect to me because I got married to the love of my life and its almost been 10 years now. I don't resent weddings because of it, if anything it makes me love them more.
Who doesn't love a happily ever after? They are romantic, fun, and so full of emotions. Like when you see the bride walking down the aisle seeing her groom, her daddy's reaction when giving his baby girl away to another man, a groom seeing his bride and having that one tear triple down his cheek. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE weddings! I love the fact that I can capture all of these moments for the bride and groom for them to look back on when they are older showing their children/grand-children. A wedding day is a magical day when two people start a new chapter in their lives and go on living happily ever after.
